We always develop our products with a long-term perspective. We never compromise on our core values: safety, quality and design, which makes our products durable and means that they can be used for a long time and be passed on from one child to the next. Children should be able to use our products properly as they develop, learn new things and experience new things together with their parents.

Careful tests

We are extremely careful when selecting materials and all of our products undergo rigorous testing. We are very picky when choosing our suppliers, and constantly check to ensure that our high standards are actually being met in all countries.

We run tests with internationally acclaimed and independent testing institutes, such as Swerea, Intertek, SGS, Bureau Veritas and STR, to avoid any hazardous substances in the materials we use.

BABYBJÖRN and product safety

Your child’s safety is of the utmost priority to us, so we always have all our products checked by independent test institutes. As a parent, you should be able to feel safe and secure when you and your child use a BABYBJÖRN product. When children suck on their baby carrier, get messy in their Eat and Play Smock or sleep in their Travel Crib, you can rest assured that these products have been properly tested and approved.

BABYBJÖRN Statement Related to Flame Retardants

Environmental Science & Technology magazine reported in May 2011 that the foam found in many baby products (e.g. portable mattresses, baby carriers, changing table pads, etc.) contains chlorinated Tris, or other flame retardants. These chemicals, while legal to use in the US, are considered toxic.

This is not an issue for BABYBJÖRN products. Each of our products meets all safety requirements of the 2008 Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, including those related to flame resistance, and they also are certified to a rigorous, international standard (Oeko-Tex Standard® 100, Class I). This standard prohibits the use of flame retardant chemicals (e.g., Tris, PBB, TEPA, TCEP9, etc.) in products made for children.

In short, your child’s well-being is our first priority. You can use all BABYBJÖRN products with confidence, knowing that they are free from health-hazardous substances.

Safe textiles

All of the textiles in our products that come into contact with your child's skin are tested and approved in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1 , which means that they are free from substances hazardous to health and allergens.

Our organic fabrics also comply with a global textile standard for organic cotton. One of the requirements of this standard is that at least 95% of the cotton is organically produced.

BABYBJÖRN Textiles are safe and tested

Safe plastics

All BABYBJÖRN Kitchen and Bathroom products meet plastic safety standards in both Europe and the USA. This means that the plastics are continuously and rigorously being tested for bisphenol A (BPA) and health-hazardous substances, and they are certified safe for foods.

Focus on child safety

We also run tests together with hundreds of test families, midwives, pediatricians and other medical specialists in child development during the entire development process.
